This is me

Fresh

“This is the start of something new”. This is something that I bet our founding fathers said when they came to America and this is something I am saying now. As I embark on this voyage, I can not help but to think of where this will be in 5 years or where the church will be in 5 years due to the increase of internet technology.

I am reading this book called the Seven Checkpoints by Andy Stanely.

While reading this it talked about the reason that most of the youth that are in the church right now will leave to go to college and not return to the church until age 30 is because they feel that there is no urgency behind spending time with God.

From homework to sports to friends, there is an urgency but with God, there is none. It goes on to say that these students that do this treat God like a vending machine. WOW! Then it hit me, Is my God the great I am or is he just something I call upon in times of need? He is the one thing that I can depend on or is he a temporary crutch?

Its time that we as a church decide that we will set the example for our kids and youth and step up and say that my God is NOT a vending machine.
